Originally from Wales, I am a mixed media visual artist based in Dubai. With a background of fine art and textiles, my interest for pattern and methodical process leads the viewer to reconsider the found materials that I choose. I prefer to work with reclaimed objects. This results in environmentally responsive work. Since living in the desert, I have produced intricate artwork consisting of rubber, teeth, glass and found miniatures.
A truly talented draftsman and all round sunshine character, Amartey Golding draws observations from life with energy and a sense of humour. His raw figurative portraits encompass an impulsive approach in charcoal and mixed media, with fearless mark-making, he invites us to become intimate with his bold and uncanny characters. Golding is based in London and is represented by Showcase Gallery in Dubai.
Kate Forresters sensitivity to detail in her design and concepts bare no comparison, in my opinion. Internationally renowned for her graphic illustrations, she has a wide spectrum of clients, including Barnes and Noble, John Lewis, Harvey Nichols and Random House. Originally from the UK, Forresters is now based in Abu Dhabi.
Vivek Blech, aka UBIK, is an Indian artist living and working in Dubai. UBIK is heavily influenced by film, beatnik and gonzo literature, music, street art, anarchism and existentialist thought. The core of UBIK’s work deals with the relative ideology of chaos. It renders the absurdity of the world order and comments on the machinated playgrounds of human cliches, in a sarcastic and realistic way.
James Clar creates work that is a fusion of technology, popular culture, and visual information. His work explores the limitations of various communication mediums and its effect on the individual and society. Clar is my absolute favourite media artist, particularly for his attention to precision, and his experimental approach, which allows his concepts and executions to continuously stretch the boundaries of his studio practice.
