La Dispute’s newest album Wildlife was released this week and is favorite album of the year. With lines like ‘Can I still get into heaven if I kill myself?’ and themes of murder, schizophrenia and the burial of loved ones, this album is very dark. Between the soft vocals and ghostly screams of Jordan Dreyer, and the musical drive and energy of Brad Vanger Lugt, Chad Sterenburg, Kevin Whittemore and Adam Vass, this is post-hardcore at its finest. The whole album can be streamed in full on their website and purchased on the No Sleep Records website.

Check out the new video for the song Let Em Come by Hip Hop artist Scroobius Pip, featuring P.O.S and Sage Francis. This song is featured on his new album Distraction Pieces, which is raw, straight-forward, edgy and intelligent. Just what hip hop should be.

I’m a huge fan of getting tattooed and the tattoo culture. I recently stumbled upon Tattoo Age on VBS.TV, and I’m hooked. The series follows tattoo artists Dan Santoro, Grime, Troy Denning, Mike Rubendall and Freddy Corbin as they discuss their craft and the state of tattooing today. With the watered down tattoo reality shows on television, this series stands above and beyond. Future tattoo artists can learn a lot from these guys.

My friend Paul Pope is back hurting my mind again with his killer stories and even more incredible illustrations. DC Comics has debuted its Wednesday Comic series with a twelve-part episode of Pope’s Adam Strange story. Coloring by the amazing Jose Villarrubia. They are off the shelves quick so keep an eye out. Dating or married musician duos are always interesting beasts. Their intertwining affections and chemical reactions make for a potent alchemy of musical magic. Along the same vein of O-era Damien Rice and Lisa Hennigan, Glen Hansard (frontman of The Frames) and Marketa Irglova are the latest lovey-dovey couple with longings expressed in fingerpicked guitars and mourning cellos.
