I find his independent, online, D.I.Y approach to film-making a refreshing contrast to the stock standard methods found in the film industry. His series of short documentaries on artists, named the Artist Series, can have a tendency to romanticise successful veteran artists and designers by presenting them as wise and all-knowing — but that’s because the films focus on thoughtful individuals who discuss matters that steer well clear of banality. I particularly like this one about conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner, which was made in collaboration with Debbie Millman.
