Bondi Junction’s beloved Eastern Hotel has a new Mexican hot spot gracing its top floor: El Topo Roof Top Bar. With over 100 Mexican spirits in stock, patrons have access to the largest range of mezcals, sotols and tequilas in Australia. Plus, there’s lip-smacking Wahacan fare to indulge in, too.

I was lucky to attend the venue’s exclusive Tequila Master Class launch lead by Diageo brand ambassadors and can vouch that the luxurious $400 bottle of Cuervo Reserva de la Familia is worth every drop. You too can expand your tequila horizons and and discover the spirit’s long history and production methods just by booking your own master class.

Mmm! I’m loving the caffeine fixes at Antidote, just as much as I fancy their bakery treats and chilled green teas. What’s more, the place is aesthetically pleasing. There’s no impersonal counter when it’s ordering time and the baristas greet you by name and approach you when your order is ready. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill, dry morning coffee experience.

Mummy and daddy told us to try and draw inside colouring book lines while growing up. Rowena Martinich’s parents must have been an exception. The Melbourne-based artist is an abstract expressionist with a difference, blurring Greenbergian formalism with edgy street art practices. She has a love affair with making her mark known in everyday public places; think the shop, at school, on the train or in cafés. But her work is also displayed in the white pristine space of the art gallery, and most recently, the MECCA Cosmetica Myer store.

Us Sydney-folk love to drink alcoholic beverages out of teapots (The World Bar). This secret hangout tucked away at the end of Melbourne CBD’s Croft Alley prefers to serve drinking in an even more outlandish way: syringes! Yes, you are reading correct. The Croft Institute is all for innovation and yummy shots are served in syringe tubes that squirt straight into your mouth.

Now, the building was initially a mental institution, so perhaps the head bar person is taking this fact a little too seriously. Note: You’ll pay a $5 door cover if entering after 10pm; well worth it for a memorable time.

Each book features a cleverly designed dust jacket which transforms into a pre-paid, pre-addressed parcel once the book is turned inside-out.

The Footpath Library charity will then post your pre-loved book to an Australian in need. It’s good Karma, folks! After all, when you share a book, you’re sharing more than just pages of paper and ink. You’re sharing the opportunity to learn, discover and feel cared for. Check out the current range of titles available at Gleebooks bookstores in Sydney, Australia.

I love seeing young, creative minds expressing original ideas in a bid to stylise the world. So when Miami Beach-based fashion/entertainment group College Lyfe hit my radar, my attention was caught. The story goes: three high school classmates – Theodore “Teddy” Borek, Cruise Bogel and Christopher Mason – had a strong interest in fashion, music and hosting parties throughout school. Come college, the boys wanted to take their craft to the next level and formed the fun business venture, College Lyfe Worldwide, in 2011. This week they’re finally launching their online store and brand new apparel line. And the goodies are available to order worldwide, so every soul can benefit. Yew! Watch what they’re about and see the tees in action here.

Today, cheesy friends can share the pizza necklace among nine buds in the crew. Sure, the exclusiveness has worn off a little, but you can’t say the necklaces don’t make you feel like you’re part of something, a la Captain Planet’s circle.

If your eyeballs have been glued to the London 2012 Olympics, chances are you’re being bombarded with advertising. Adidas alone reportedly paid $150 million to secure an official sponsorship deal. So it’s little wonder London designers Rizon created a series of unofficial posters for small-to-medium businesses to use to keep the Games about sport, not sponsorship, as the slogan exclaims.

They’re able to show their Olympic spirit without breaching the stringent marketing guidelines published by Olympic organisers, LOCOG, that would otherwise prevent them from publicising their involvement.
