When you film an ex-mod and rockers biker wedding, you know it ain’t gonna be down at no church. And that’s exactly what led me to the Ace Cafe, London. The Ace is petrolhead, rock n’ roll heaven, especially if you get there for one of the regular meet nights, for anything from Harleys to Smart Cars. For a total cultural curve ball, walk a few minutes round the corner where a piece of India fell from the sky: Neasden Hindu Temple, made from 2,000 tonnes of carved marble. Need one say more.

What a gem of a find. Not only does the UK institution, Tate, collect and exhibit great art. They also make quality films about it, too. There’s hundreds on their channel for me to get my art fix and they seem to be constantly releasing new ones every week. I’ve seen artist studio visits, artist profiles, films by commissioned artists, and experimental stuff. I couldn’t choose a favourite, so you get two: one on author Maurice Sendak (Where The Wild Things Are) — above — and this really fun time-lapse — below.
A beautifully intimate portrait of a family business frozen in time, with characters almost as old as the copper pots, who painstakingly churn out endless pear drops, pineapple chunks, cola pips and minty humbugs in the same way as generations before them.
