Having focused on documentaries for the last few years, it was refreshing to take that influence back to music videos. Nonetheless, it is a challenge to compete in a genre crowded by our expectations of big budget videos and mega stars. But it is my hope that this video offers something a little different. The band is currently on tour.

How much do I really understand about WikiLeaks? I love the PBS show Frontline and they have an interesting report about WikiLeaks that they put online. It poses some really interesting questions, check it out here.

One of my favorite artists is Albert Oehlen. How does he make the failure of painting seem so effortless? His tinkering with technology has allowed him to rebuild, with seemingly familiar tools, echoes of the worlds around us. The work can appear as lost as we are in our lives, cyber space, or whatever, while still being tethered to forces beyond our control. Read more

The writer Chris Kraus has an art show on right now in Brooklyn at Real Fine Arts. Her writing is really good so I was curious to see some old films of hers. She says they have nothing to do with her now, but that doesn’t matter. Things that we’ve done or parts of ourselves long past can still be celebrated. Read more

The artist Ai Wei Wei was arrested and has been missing since April 3. Raise a voice and sign this petition for his release. Apparently the website hosting the petition, which was started by the Guggenheim Museum, has been cyber-attacked. So even though it’s a challenge to make a difference, someone is paying attention.

I am so happy that Brooklyn rock band Oneida is still making great music. They have a new album, Absolute II, coming out soon and I can’t wait to hear it.

Artist John Borowicz does a lot of amazing stuff, but his series of drawings composed of little tiny blocks and shapes are seriously nuts. Read more

For some reason this bike wine holder by Jesse Herbert just screams Park Slope. It’s pretty rad, but it might earn you a punch in the face if you ride through certain neighborhoods.

I’m about to reveal my true, nerdy colours to you all. The recently released Google Zeitgeist 2010 gives a fascinating overview of what the world was thinking this year by showing us what it searched. Oh World, Justin Bieber? What were you thinking?

Where would we be without synths and drum machines? Probably still listening to Grateful Dead jams in the alleyways of Height-Asbury. Done well, the remix is a wonderful thing. Case in point is Royksopp’s rendering of the Kings of Convenience track I Don’t Know What I Can Save You From. And then there’s Riton’s version of the Mystery Jets song, The Boy Who Ran Away. A White Lines for the 21st Century? I think so.

Two of the nicest dudes I’ve ever met own and design the ridiculously cool clothing line, Kane & Unke. It’s pretty much all I have in my closet. They used to be sold exclusively at Metropark, but have recently fired up their own online store which I’m told will be up and running around July.

In the animal series, artist/designer Okayboss explores the trend of bands naming themselves after animals. These pieces, inspired by such artists as the Mountain Goats and The Dodos, put a colorful spin on the wildlife-turned-band phenomenon in indie-rock. Limited edition signed pieces are available in the Lost At E Minor store. Read more
