Make Something From Nothing At Village Underground with Ben UFO and BUFF Diss
Red Stripe announces the launch of Make with a Red Stripe, a series of cultural projects cel­ebrating the DIY culture of the brand’s Jamaican roots. With the cans, which were partly collected at this year’s Notting Hill carnival, Red Stripe and Yuri Su­zuki produced a towering fully functioning sound sculpture, that draws inspiration from, bass heavy Jamaican sound systems.

Guests were treated to a night Red Stripe, Jerk chicken and the best in Jamaican inspired beats. Putting the sound sculpture through its paces were the blinding DJ talents of Hessel Audio’s Ben UFO, NMBERS co-founder Spencer and Al Fingers playing rare Greensleeves recordings.

Mitchell Cooper is a young sculptor who has been taking molds of some of the top up and coming runway models from IMG Model Management and Women Model Management in New York City and turning them into completed full body nude pieces in a modern Romanesque style. His latest piece was created from a mold he took of supermodel, Kasia Struss.

Nothing in the discarded subway system is easy to find, not even an entire brewery, and this is likely to be a once in a lifetime experience for any traveller, documentary maker, journalist or beer drinking NYC enthusiast who is prepared to brave the unknown tunnels with us in search for the brewery lost beneath New York City.

Chicago’s Mutts have just released their first full-length, Pray for Rain. The album’s call to arms is band leader Mike Maimone’s Tom Waits-style growl, which is accompanied by fuzzed-out organ, greasy guitar hooks and brutal drumming.

This Brisbane City Council street art initiative is getting artists to paint the traffic signal boxes at intersections. 2010’s award recipient, Penelope Donovan, says it’s a great way to get your work out there, despite the prescribed nature of the brief. It’s all run by Urban Smart Projects.

Justin Wayne Butts is an illustrator and fine artist from Birmingham, Alabama, who has written and illustrated his first children’s book. He recently launched a Kickstarter project page in order to raise the money to publish his nautical-themed book, which is intended to help with children’s word association and self-esteem.

Michael Cain is an artist based in Melbourne. His quirky, abstracted characters are created with loose, fluid brushstrokes and a vivid colour palette that immerses you in their world and makes you smile.
