One place that beats all possible travel suggestions with its unique morphology is my home island Crete. It combines beautiful sea, beaches of a wide range of colors (from pink to black), African rocky landscapes, sand hills, mountains, you name it. It also holds a good 3K of history on its shoulders as the home to the Minoan Civilization (remember Minotaur?). Dead cheap, too. I would recommend Chania town and Elafonisi Beach as first stops.
I never use this term but Beyond Ballet Russes, the English National Ballet’s show in honour of Sergei Diaghilev’s legacy, was truly mesmerizing. I watched Programme 1 at the National Opera earlier this year and my enthusiasm is focused on ENB’s versions of the legendary choreographies, L’après-midi d’un faune, and The Rite of Spring by Vaslav Nijinsky. Beautiful and in-depth reworkings of these old and controversial works, the latter one accompanied by Stravisky’s breathtaking score.
