If you are chosen for the path of an ‘expressionist’ and/or ‘abstract expressionist’ painter: first of all, you accept that painting the intangible, aka ‘nothing’, is a lot of the times harder than painting the ‘something’. Know the challenge. Secondly, painting from only a real and honest place within yourself can be extremely exhausting and at the same time intoxicating; or, sometimes you’ll just need to get intoxicated. Give yourself a break! Read more

Fashion designers Kalen Kaminiski and Astrid Chastka are making some gorgeous, shibuori-inspired womenswear and accessories. Astrid and Kalen custom dye each of their pieces, embracing the ‘mistake’ as a ‘happy accident’. That’s a very in-the-moment way to create, and I bow down to them. Read more

Linda Farrow is the most innovative sunglass designer out there. She gets hired by EVERYONE to design their shades, including Alex Wang, Dries Van Noten, House of Holland, Raf Simons, The Row, and Oscar De La Renta. Most notable is her imaginative line for Jeremy Scott. I love her Jeremy Scott ‘Mickey’ (pictured) for a not so humble 444 bones. You may recognize them as Miss Gaga rocks them in her Paparazzi music video.

I have a major crush on Daniel Arsham. I like everything he does and has done, which also makes him very annoying to me. When you find an artist that somehow manages to accomplish this, there is no place to feel anything but respect. And exhaustion. Read more

It goes without saying that Hip Hop has taken a few very low hits in the past decade. Thanks to the likes of 50 Cent and company, it accounts for around 40% of all music sold in America. It’s a huge industry. So where does that leave Hip Hop artists doing something a bit different? Lord T and Eloise wear wacky outfits, make crazy music and bring a whole lot of fun back into Hip Hop. What’s more, they’ve started a new genre called ‘Aristocrunk’. Watch out!
I think Anne Geddes spent ten years in the desert with Dr. Seuss doing hallucinogens. She woke up one searing Nevada morning and decided her new name was Peggy Noland. Then she moved to Kansas City and released the line that is currently featured on her website. At least, that’s what I think.
