Chu Keng Fu of Fudesign has an interesting view of the world. It is a warped, colourful place, invaded by aliens, monsters and robots. Hailing from Taiwan, FU, as he prefers to be called, is trying to make sense of the world he inhabits. ‘I am from Taiwan, a beautiful island. Although the place is too crowded, everything is wonderful. There are many 24-hours convenient stores located on every corner. Taiwan has the most delicious food in the world, and it is cheap’. Schmidt, Hammer and Lassen’s design for the Copenhagen national library is a celebrated structure in the already glittering design portfolio of northern Europe. The marble and glass façade of The Black Diamond (yes, that is what their national library is called) is an example of architectural brilliance, with even the angled walls designed to best mirror the city’s beautiful canals.

New York’s Infinity Window make some tripped-out, droning, psychedelic raagas that would be appropriate scoring films by Kenneth Anger or John Carpenter. Ominous and dark, the duo makes sounds like the rebirth of an ancient god.

Swedish designer Paula Hagerskans has a cool masculine-edge to her female fashion lines. But it’s her attention to detail that really blows my mind. Her perfectly tailored jackets, along with her flat dress shoes, make dressing up fun, comfortable and classy. When asked what she keeps in mind while designing, Hagerskans responds, ‘Bohemic music lovers, humor, graphic design and the female body’.
