Australian-born graffiti artist Jimmy Cochran has painted walls from the Bronx to Berlin and is recognized equally in fine art galleries as graffiti street tours in London. Last month, Cochran unveiled his latest project, pushing the boundaries of his pointillist-inspired art style with 3D graffiti techniques.

Living in London, Cochran has been working on developing 3D graffiti for years now. He explains: ‘This is something that has been on my mind for a long time. I first started testing this style in my studio and recently took it to the streets, painting my first piece,’Girl With Spheres 3D’, on the wall of the Bird & Ballard coffee shop, at The Foundary in London’. A main challenge of the style, Cochran says, is making sure the work is equally effective in 3D and as a stand alone street piece. The Bird & Ballard coffee shop has been handing 3D glasses to interested passersby.

Fans have until December 20 to submit their version of the generation-defining Bob Marley song One Love to info@1love.org, where the Marley family will choose ten of their favorite submissions to post online. Five final entries will make the cut of the Marley Family’s 2012 interpretation of the tune the BBC dubbed ‘song of the millennium’. ‘Today, more than ever, we need to spread the One Love message’, says Cedella Marley. ‘We’re fortunate to be able to do this through the gift of music’. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Little Kids Rock, a national nonprofit that provides musical instruments to underserved public schools.

Caught yourself on a how-the-hell-did-I-even-get-here train of thought lately? Ukrainian literary experimentalist Alex Shagi is calling out for visual artists across the world to ride that train to the end of the line. Shagi’s Fantasie Impromptu project builds upon the old English parable that people’s souls are reincarnated as sparrows. In Shagi’s world, sparrows represent dreams — dead or alive — and material expectations. Working with artists across the US and Europe, South Africa, Russia and Japan, Shagi is housing a menagerie of hope and regret to be release in hard copy and online format later this year.
