I’ve been always fascinated by the way our senses work and how they deceive our mind sometimes. As an experiment, I wanted to confuse the visitors of the gallery space and mix reality with illusory images. By projecting artificial shadows onto the windows, visitors could become part of the projected image, since their shadows appeared to be no different from those in the movie. I used the windows as screens to connect the interior to the outside world. Read more

I first saw this short movie of Jean-Patrice Blanc at the Holland Animation Film Festival last year, and I have watched it many times since. Blanc picked a complex music track and transcribed it into a basic, yet convincing graphic language. Sound and image are in such an incredible harmony. I love every frame of it.

I just found this awesome website with numerous medieval drawings of animals. Bestiaries, illustrated collections of beasts, used to be very popular in the Middle Ages. However, usually artists were never able to observe the animals themselves, so their drawings were based only on written description.

City for Birds is what it sounds like: an artificial city model built on a giant plane tree made by two artists, Tibor Árki and Gergely Kovács, in Miskolc, a city in Hungary. The witty installation includes blockhouses, various shops, beauty salons, a prison and other characteristic types of buildings, all in bird scale. Among the buildings, the artists also placed fake advertisements, addressed to birds, as a critique of urban existence in the 21st century. Read more

The duo of Brendan Monroe and Evah Fan are one of those creative, powerhouse couples. Though two entirely individual artists, the influence they exert upon one another is subtle yet undeniable. Both create the kind of art that that makes you giddy with pleasure, while the lack of pretension puts you completely at ease. You get the undeniable sense that these are two people who simply live and breathe creativity and love every moment of it. Two amazing artists with a wholly individual take on life and the world around them. I had the pleasure to grill them both. Read more

What to wear to my openings is always a difficult one. Should I dress-up or wear the paint stained clothing worn producing the work? This time my problem was solved quickly as I discovered the perfect dress from A Name Is A Label. Their pieces have a sculptural appearance, constructed predominantly from second-hand clothing. The label is about ethical, new-century awareness.
