Blood, salvaged from a slaughterhouse, is the primary mark making medium in my new solo exhibition, Hemoglyphs at Causey Contemporary. These new works are experiments driven by spirituality, corporeality, fantasy and chance and incorporate new methods of working and preserving the blood.

My new solo exhibition is on view from now until October 2 at Causey Contemporary in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The show will feature BAR 1-9, a massive, 32 foot long abstract mural in blood and resin; a 16 foot tall work of blood-soaked gauze preserved on plexiglass; a series created with outdoor sun-drying techniques of the blood; and copper-and-blood mixtures on black acrylic boxes.

Pumped-up dance parties are crucial for me to clear the mind and re-energize. These parties have innovative house music DJs. Bassment and SPANK have been an alternative to the pop-oriented parties in New York.

SPANK, organized by DJ Will Automagic, DJ Sean B, and Jason Roe, has produced an art zine and thrown some of the best events and parties at roaming venues. Bassment, led by resident DJs Jools Palmer and Mandy Graves, is a weekly party with guest DJs that have included Michael Magnan, Kim Ann Foxman, Ryan Smith, House of Stank, and Nita.
