His expressionist figures are abstract, exaggerated, and at the same time, very real: like something from a half remembered dream. His work creates dark and personal narratives that capture strange moments of human drama.

Matthew Albanese’s landscape photography is simply magical. He shoots everything from underwater life, to frozen landscapes, to lush flowing fields, to wildfires and tornadoes. The mind-blowing part is that he creates these strange worlds by constructing miniature models with amazing detail made out of household items such as cotton, paprika, jelly, plexiglass, steel wool and parsley.
