Godly MC, a young emcee hailing from the Washington D.C. area, is a witty lyricist, rhyming over well mixed beats. In a world where rap has become so commercialized and shallow, this guy gets back to the roots of true Hip Hop. He gives us his story, his dreams, and even his shortcomings, using clever word play, bringing us back to a time where Hip Hop wasn’t about just girls, cars, and money.

Mentalgassi is an amazing blog documenting street art in Spain. The art is blunt and showcases people in an unusual light. The Public Intimacy Series, for instance, shows a man doing mundane activities in public. There’s a bathroom set up in a photo booth, a living room set up on a subway platform, as well as a mirror he uses to shave, propped up against the underground wall. You’ll have a hard time looking away.

It’s such a simple site, but I guarantee you can get stuck in a trance here for hours. You choose the colors and then watch pixelated sand fall down your computer monitor. When you’re finished creating, submit your artwork to the sand gallery and browse the creation of other digital sand artists. It’s one of the best forms of procrastination.
It’s not up to public servants or government officials to decide what is art and what isn’t, but the real estate company that owned this wall that had been adorned with a mural by Teazer, Numskull, and Roach should have had the savvy to use the hip artwork to its advantage. Instead, now they have dicks on their wall.
I had the chance to meet Ghost Patrol this summer and he’s a great chap. I love how he combines illustrative and narrative elements to his street art, and his fondness of folklore and nature really make his work stand out.
