I was a little late to discover the awesomeness of Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth, but I’m sure glad I did. Hemsworth’s tracks combine complex and moody samples with some pretty big names in rap. The resulting ambient, sometimes psychedelic, sound has me mesmerised and wanting more.

At first glance Barnaby Ward’s illustrations seem quirky and fun. Look a little closer and you’ll notice darker underlying themes of innocence and naivety, juxtaposed with elements of danger and destruction.

When doing research on Japanese cityscapes, I came across Lee Baker’s site and was really impressed with his work. I like the way his paintings create tension between the stark cityscapes and ominous organic shapes that loom on the horizon.

A friend of mine recently introduced me to Brooklyn electronic duo, Blondes. Their sound isn’t altogether new, but it is beautifully layered house music, reminiscent of music pumping on underground dancefloors over a decade ago; which is exactly what I like about it. Good music to get the creative juices flowing.

What do you do with over 1000 old business cards? We decided to put them to good use by creating a stop-motion video. The video loosely references the major aspects of what we do at Messy Design: thinking, problem solving, visual communication, ideas, and delivering results. All this and more, in One Neat Little Package.
