The goal of archive.org is to archive the Internet. It’s a non-profit organization that’s been around since 1996 and expanded to archive all sorts of other data as well. One of my favorite places on the Internet is the Live Music Archive, which has over 20,000 live music shows that you can stream and download for free.

There is a long standing tradition for jambands to don a ‘musical costume’ for Halloween and cover an album in its entirely. The band Umphrey’s McGee has taken this concept a step further by performing ‘live mashups‘ for their Halloween gigs. They cleverly juxtapose two songs on top of each other, and then proceed to tear the roof off. Highlights from this year were a Robert Palmer and Prince mashup (Addicted to Kiss) and a MGMT and Nirvana mashup (Come As Your Kids).

No one can really describe what it’s like to attend Burning Man, the annual gathering of artists in the Nevada desert. It’s much like trying to describe Las Vegas: until you go, its hard to fathom the sheer scale of things. This amazing timelapse chronicles the entire event from the building of the city until it is completely dismantled.
