Chad Vangaalen’s music is fantastic. He conjures up some very bizarre stories in his songs and completely does his own thing. Not only does he create music, but he also animates his own music videos, which are equally as amazing. It’s as if he is from another world.
When I’m not working on illustration work, I work on my paintings and comics. I try to paint as much as possible, I’m very interested in making bold, simple and striking imagery. I’m also currently working on a comic series set in the wrestling universe I created called Fight! Which is being released by Nobrow […]
A few years ago I came across some very strange animated music videos for Frank Zappa, and I loved them. I managed to find out more about the animator and found out they were created by Bruce Bickford. I found out he had made several short films and there was a very inspiring documentary about him called Monster Road that I can’t recommend enough. His work is absolutely brimming with energy and focus, and it can sometimes take him years to complete a piece as he animates solely by himself.
I’ve been reading Jesse Moynihan’s comics online for a long time and I’m a big fan. He recently had his comic Forming collected and published by Nobrow Press. Finally being able to hold his work and seeing it all there in front of you makes you realise how make of a task he’s taken on […]
I love the toys that come out of Max Toy Co. I’m a big fan of Tokusatsu and Super Sentai programs, and these toys have come out of a huge love for these things. They’re made in the same way a lot of Japanese soft vinyl toys are made, but some of the ideas Mark […]
Fantagraphics have released two books in the last few years of Fletcher Hank’s fantastically strange comics. His work was around in the early twentieth century and it’s brimming with personality and energy. The books bring together some amazing stories and I can’t recommend them enough. Prepare to have your mind blown.
I had the chance to meet Ghost Patrol this summer and he’s a great chap. I love how he combines illustrative and narrative elements to his street art, and his fondness of folklore and nature really make his work stand out.
