A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of sharing a show with this unknown girl at a library. To be honest, I’ve never heard about her before, but from the moment this twenty year-old girl started singing, I was completely astonished with her voice. After the show, I talked a bit with her and she’s recording her first EP. I’m really looking forward to listening to it.

This is by far one of my favourite small online games. Coma is an adventure platform game created by Thomas Brush. It’s pretty short and easy to play but the atmosphere created by the landscapes and music is simply stunning.

The Blueberries have just issued our first promotional video for the song London Eye, which opens our eponymous debut (download from our website). The video is shot in and about Montevideo’s Parque Rodó, our national airport, and some other random locations.

Sebastián Gavary is one of my favourite young Uruguayan designers. Music is always part of his designs, either as topics or in the harmony of the colours. As a typographic geek, the form and shape of words in his works is always meticulously checked. Read more

Bill Hicks is a man who doesn’t need an introduction. I prefer to see him as a modern philosopher rather than just as stand up comedian. The way we deal with drugs, news manipulation, government and the way we live our lives is put against the wall by one of the most lucid and cynical men of our era. Open your minds.
Granada-born artist Paco Pomet bases his paintings on old archival photographs, interjecting silly, surreal, and absurd elements — skewed and stretched features, scale shifts, extra or missing limbs, or goofy pop imagery — commenting on the distorting nature of memory. Read more
Great British artist — I love his paintings — and this is a great little insight into how he works. Whenever I read interviews with artists, it’s always their working process I find most interesting. Cooke’s multilayered approach is not dissimilar to my own, though clearly his work is very different. Read more

The Oscars just came and swept us by, giving legs to a new movement in its wake. Well, maybe just the right leg. It’s called Angelina Jolie’ing. I can hardly contain my joy. Read more
Beijing-based band Hanggai write original songs in the traditional folk styles of their Mongolian ancestors — throat-singing, horsehair fiddles, lutes — spearheading an Asian version of the old-time revival. Though it’s only through the digital age that the rest of the world can access this beautiful music, it makes you want to slow down and reflect on what we’ve lost as a species. This stuff makes every flavor of the month indie band seem vapid and meaningless.
