In an effort to maintain high creative standards, part of my company is a boutique in-house design agency I co-head with Glenn Michael called Moxy Creative. He recently released this beautiful illustrated series, called Touristique, examining urban architecture around the world. We produce prints of all the work we do, and one of the favorite parts of my job is seeing the spaces people hang them in all around the world.

Websites like Tumblr, Pinterest, and Piccsy (shameless plug) are changing the way people relate to images by making everyone a curator of their own aesthetic corner of the web. This is a great form of new media that’s going to go through major growth – both in regards to adoption and technology – in coming years. Pantonism is a great example of what can be done with this technology, and combines my love of fashion, technology, and the arts seamlessly.

Being as busy as I am, I often let current events and hard news fall to periphery of my day-to-day focus. Also, being a highly visual person means that I like to interpret information in that form. Buzzfeed’s Most Powerful Photos of 2011 is an awe-inspiring collection of images that span all news categories and something I really responded to.

I’m a huge strategy/product/UI/web nerd and believe that a core element of great design is an ability to improve peoples’ everyday lives. Little Big Details is my favorite UI site. Pictured here is a feature that Google Doodles you a happy birthday based on your Google+ settings. Regardless of its current/future success, watching Google+ roll-out and integrate with other Google Products this year has been a lot of fun.

Admittedly, I’m a bit late — eons in internet time — on this video by Olivier de Sagazan released in 2008. Still, even if you’ve seen it, it’s worth revisiting. Along with Drive, this is easily one the best films I’ve seen in 2011. Poignantly haunting, disturbing and yet still managing to be unequivocally beautiful.

Like most people that live in urban centers, I’m fascinated with the relationship between person and place, which means I like to keep updated on urban planning and infrastructure. I commute by bicycle and have long felt it is one of the best ways to experience a city, not to mention the environmental, health and traffic benefits.

This widely circulated image outlining the spatial implications of transportation decisions really spoke to me, particularly since I hail from a city that often talks about the interaction between cars and bicycles in militaristic terms.
