Artist Gilit Fisher creates paintings of maps and nature, predator flowers and advertisement campaigns. These mostly involve classic feminine characters to raise awareness of the ubiquity of violent images in our culture and the influences they have on our brain. Fisher’s paintings are made from many lines that build the images she paints. This quality make her painted images look like nervous-maps that describe a finger print, a flower, or a vagina.

A street art impressionist? A couple of months ago at Gallery Bomb in Dallas, I saw Steve Hamilton’s work for the first time. From a few meters away I could appreciate a well done execution of graphite portraits on cardboard. From a closer look, tiny speckles of spray paint gather amongst the multi-layering of white, grey and blacks. Phenomenal. Stenciling at the highest level of patience.
