I am inspired by the idea of art clashing with what surrounds it, rather than complimenting it. An expression of the opposite of the safe, pretty paintings adorning the walls in suburban homes. I am also inspired by being surrounded by skate, punk and street culture in my teen years. I sometimes bring in freeform variations on tribal and South American patterns into my pieces, on varying scales of devolution.
