I’m hardly ever this drawn to modern dance films, but Celia Rowlson has managed to create something truly captivating with this single-shot performance piece. Interpretive dance, a more abstract form of expression, rarely contains this level of narrative and characterization. It is sad, funny, beautiful, and hypnotizing.

This brilliant music video shot on old school glass anamorphics captures the feel of classic sci-fi like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris, while creating a texture all its own. Heavily influenced by retrofuturism (the aesthetic of pre-1960s depictions of the future), the music video follows a lonely spaceship captain in orbit around an unknown planet.
