So you think Daft Punk are a bunch of geniuses who wrote a whole bunch of killer songs just by dreaming them up in some French mansion whilst sleeping with beautiful women and wearing fancy helmets? You’re only half right. Check out this website to see just where all these fancy schmancy house and hip hop producers have been stealing their material from for all this time. Who knew Beats International’s Dub Be Good To Me sampled Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time In The West? Hmmm.

Science is cool. Your 8th grade chemistry teacher told you so, and he wore Hawaiian shirts. Righteous. PopSci has given you a brief overview of ten recent massive (read expensive) science projects. Bigger than your paper-mache solar system. Who knew that the Large Hadron Collider’s role as a device for exploring the quark-gluon plasma could potentially cure cancer? Bonus! Read more

By some estimates, Google has over half a million servers that each month crunch the equivalent of all the data in the entire library of congress 240 times over. Well over half of web users go to Google for answers to their questions, asking the machine over 400 million queries per day. Slowly but surely, Google is becoming our collective brain. They’ve launched this service as Google Flu Trends. ‘From a technological perspective, it is the beginning’, says Eric E. Schmidt, Google’s chief executive. So where is this is all heading? Read more

This website hosts a nice collection of quirky, sometimes mind-boggling, sculptures from around the world. There’s a certain Dali-esque feel to a lot of them – those surreal, dreamy hallucinations turned into a warped reality. I’ve always been a sucker for art that really catches you out for a few seconds, and these certainly do that.
Wolf and Cub are back with a brand new single and after listening to it, I feel like I should be out in the streets, warning my neighbours of the apocalypse. The song is huge, forceful, damming and painfully exciting. Joel Byrne’s half-drawl, half-howl proclaims the end, while (in true Wolf and Cub) the drums are epic and unsettling. And then, that moment, the bass against the fading echoes. My heart broke and my brain exploded. It’s too much to take. This band will be the death of me.
There’s a bit of a Micky Mouse mysticism meme going around lately, and I’m super happy it got combined with Crass in this amazing Cubopop T-shirt, if only for a brief moment before the cease and desists get issued.
