Marvel’s X-Universe can get pretty ridiculous at times. But at its best, things like the first years of The New Mutants happen. With unbelievable artwork by Bill Sienkiewicz, who has to be the most underrated comic book artist out there, it really doesn’t matter where the stories go. His vision of that alternate world of mutants and humans really takes things to another level. Possibly a more believable level, even though his style is so much more surreal than most artists.

I’ve been reading Julia Wertz’s web comic, The Fart Party, which is simply a first person account of her every day life. The artwork is pretty rudimentary, but that works to the comic’s advantage, making it rather accessible and earnest seeming. Updated every few days, it’s not hard to keep up, and you never have to wait long to get your next fix.
Skeletonbreath pound out some pretty raging post-punk anthems with a violin taking the lead rather than a vocalist. The trio can get surprisingly loud, despite frontman Robert Pycior’s classically trained virtuosity.
