There’s a lot to be said for natural phenomena. This video shows two girls in a canoe on the River Shannon in Ireland experiencing one. Moving and spectacular to say the least, and a reminder to us all to get out there and experience what this world has to offer.

Andy Smith is an illustrator with skills. His work combines illustration and typography to create images that have humour, energy and optimism, and all are executed with a hand-made, hand-printed, tactile feel. He designed these four mugs for his friends at outdoor company Alpkit. Each mug shows a creature tangling with explorers. I love them. Read more

I love this modern twist on cubism that Liam Brazier has developed into a style of his own. His geometric approach bares resemblance to 90s TV show Red Dwarf’s Kryton, yet his depictions of these classic Superheroes still have fresh feel. Read more

The Art of Dancing is an online advent calendar from Lewis Bullock and Luke Bonner, a dancing duo from Bournmouth. Each day throughout December, they reveal a new dance routine on location, with occasional guest appearances from passers-by and confused onlookers. It’s been reported that they’ve even turned down an approach from a mobile phone giant, stating: ‘We weren’t willing to attach a brand to it. It was only about making people smile’.

I must have seen hundreds of photo sets on Flickr, and even though this one doesn’t contain the original work, I’d struggle to find one that evokes such nostalgia. Many an hour was spent searching the Argos catalogue for the latest toys, walkmans, hi-fis and the like. Now we can do it all again. Read more

The Cadger Dubstep Christmas House is 35,000 LED lights flashing a track called First Of The Year (Equinox) by Skrillex. He describes his sound as ‘a mix of dubstep, electro and glitch all thrown together’. Perfect for Christmas.

Where’s the mouse’s rights and equality? Ban Tom and Jerry, recall all the mouse trap products. One of The Balletcats’ unusual new products. This time, they introduce canvas tote bags into the line with unique details on its handles that represents the meaning of the design itself.

Jeremy Geddes is my favorite undiscovered painter. His work is mesmerizing in narrative and particularly in technique. He spends months on one painting!

Already with a Spectrum show under their belt, The Archerbolds are an up and coming Australian band well worth checking out. I saw the Sydney-based lads play recently at the Mars Hill Café and it was evident that they should be permanently rocking out on a real stage; not in front of coffee sippers. Their floating lyrics, smart guitar riffs and meaty bass lines are infused by The Strokes, Mars Volta, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin — ultimately producing a freshly spun modern-vintage sound. Lead vocalist and guitarist Geoffrey ‘Gep’ Rectin says The Archerbolds plan to create a solid sound for next year: ‘Over summer, we’re recording an EP and working on a set sound, defining more of an image’. If their track, Rest Your Soul, is anything to go by, then it should be pretty dandy.

Yes, Karen O wears it. And we don’t blame her. Launched by make-up artist, Mike Potter, Knock Out Cosmetics nail polish is a little Victorian, a touch art deco, and a lot of rock n’ roll.
