Something ‘stinks’ on Latin American walls, and we like it. This vivid, powerful graffiti from Stinkfish, a proud member of the Excusado Printsystem collective, recently featured in Japan’s PINGMAG. He is one of the most visible street artists of the region. It’s impossible to ignore his gigantic and aggressive traces and brushes all over Bogota streets. Read more

Chalk cliffs, a cold blue sea, and undisturbed beech woods are some of the amazing landscapes you can enjoy in Rügen, Germany’s largest island, located in the Baltic Sea. The island’s main city is Binz, which is full of seaside resorts and exclusive spas. Kap Arkona is another interesting spot. This beautiful little village has two lighthouses, the smaller one constructed by famous architect, Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 1827. [photo via GFX Master]

1,660 square kilometers of volcanic landscapes, beaches and extremely comfortable weather emerges in the Atlantic Ocean, just a few miles off the coast of Africa. Welcome to Fuerteventura, one of Spain’s Canary Islands. The island is a martian paradise, where you can experience yellow, purple, and red sunsets, gorgeous wide, shallow beaches — which are perfect for kite surfing — and desert dunes sculpted by fierce winds from the Sahara. The so called Island of Eternal Springs is just three hours from continental Europe. Read more

Hailing from Mexico City, Zoe create sophisticated melodies — as reflected in their song, Love. The group has been nominated for Best Latin Rock Or Alternative Album in the upcoming Grammy Awards and just as a fine tequila with lemon and salt explodes in your throat with all passion the flavors can summon, so too does the energetic live set of this rock group ignite emotions across their homeland. Their music is in line with that of other interesting Mexican bands such as Kinky and Plastilina Mosh.

The complex and tender thoughts that your senses experience when you’re in love {and we mean truly, deeply, gut-wrenchingly in love) are inside the lyrics, visuals and beats of Verde 3, a band from Bogota, Colombia, who move between rock, pop, electro and new wave. Created in 2002 by Champi (Carlos Benavides), Verde 3 is now one of the most exciting bands in this eclectic city, playing venues like the Teatro Colón, an Italian style theatre built in 1885. The band recently performed there, delighting the audience with a playful mix of piano, Moogs and RGB visuals. Check out the web broadcast. Their first single, Viernes por la noche, was released in December 2006, shortly after they opened for Ladytron in

The spicy music of Bruno García — aka Sergent Garcia or Sargento García — is a delicious and fresh mix of Cuban and Jamaican rhythms, from reggae, ska and ragga to salsa, son and cha-cha. The ancestry of the ‘Salsamuffin’ pioneer is an interesting mixture: French mother, African cousins (Algerian), and Hispanic roots. His grandfather was from Granada and his father was from Bilbao, both in Spain. Back in the 80s he was the guitarist with the cult punk band, Ludwig Von 88, and he now lives in Belleville, one of Paris’ marginal neighborhoods where refugees and people from around the world use music to mix up their life within the overwhelming confines of French culture. Mascaras, the latest album from this world citizen, is a bridge between his previous recordings, tour experiences around the globe and a modern urban touch, produced by Toy Hernández from Control Machete, one of the most important influences amongst the Latin American scene. Cumbia, hip-hop, reggaeton, and salsa blend in a colorful album taking the listeners to the streets of cities such as Mexico DF, Kingston, Paris and Lagos.

Buenos Aires, Lisbon, London and now Bogota have been shaken, beaten and enlightened by a group of wild, sensual, acrobatic Argentineans called Fuerzabruta, a project between two former De La Guarda theatre company members. The show takes place amongst and above the audience. There are no seats. Sprinkling water, fake blood, paper, and cardboard boxes may hit you. Everything is unexpected. You may even receive passionate kisses from the crazy performers who dance around you with the rhythm of a live DJ. The energy and sensations you feel are remarkable, as a pool hanging from the roof descends over you, and four dancers smash their almost naked bodies against the transparent bottom. There is no concept, just reality.

Man, I remember shaking my tail to Come on Eileen many moons ago — when rat-tails were a right of passage and Molly Ringwald held both the lock and the key to my tiny pitter pattering heart. Back then it was all ice-skating and fairy floss; skateboards and trading cards. It was bags of chips by the rusty school fence and sunburnt faces on crackling summer days. Read more
The scientists explored the surface of our moon until they stood facing the foreboding presence of The Lunar Crystal. The two men stood in awe of the crystal’s existence. They stared without tact; oblivious to the inquisitive voices on the other end of their earpieces.
