Conjoined twin sister duo, Evelyn and Evelyn Neville, were born in a farm in the Kansas-Colorado border and have been touring all through North America. As very talented musicians, in their live performances they play their own instruments, sharing right and left sides. Their music is a compilation of various artists: Joy Division, Andrew Sisters, Belle and Sebastian and Theatre Musical.

Two guys from the comedy group Good Neighbor sit in deck chairs in Venice Beach, giving voices to the stream of weird and interesting people that walk by. With just a camera and great improvisation, Theatre of Life, from comedians Nick and Beck, is one of the best shows on YouTube.

This is a perfect pre-summer video from Mariano Gilmore and Belle. I was honoured to be part of the creation of this video by invading sunny Buenos Aires with multi-coloured balloons, drinking a couple of cold cans of beer, and having a good reason to enjoy the city among friends and great music.

When I saw his blog years ago, I was happy to find a young photographer that chooses to shoot with black and white film. And even more excited, when I found that he did it with a Leica, at the same moment I was studying about the Cartier-Bresson – Leica relationship. He says: ‘Knowing I have black-and-white film in my camera makes me shoot differently than I do with digital or color film’. Severin Koller defines himself as a street photographer, trying to honestly capture pieces of our time, to be part of the documentation of our human condition and the fascinating life on the street. I came across these young sisters from Sweden called First Aid Kit when they first had a hit on YouTube doing a cover of their favourite band, Fleet Foxes. They surprised me with their vocal harmonies and their effortless style.

There is enough of the conspiracy thing in the world, but finding this article freaks me out a little bit. I always thought it was weird that you can see places on Google maps that you could never get to by car or on foot. But what’s going on with there weird structures in the middle of the Chinese dessert?

I like reading about weird things that people create, and I also like drinking a nice cup of tea. In this case, I satisfied both of these obsessions. But I will need to take out a loan to try this exotic panda poo tea. If you had the money, would you have the courage to try it?

Lately, I’ve found myself connected to stories of men and nature: I read and saw 127 Hours, Into the Wild, and more recently The Longest Way, a video made by German student Christoph Rehage. His original plan was to walk from Beijing to Germany, but he only ended up doing 4646km in China. His video was part of Destination X, an exhibition about people’s motivation to move around at the Museum of World Culture.
Liam Sparkes’s medium is ink on skin. He is a tattoo artist based out of London, mostly. His tattoo imagery looks of old school book illustrations and woodblock prints. I like the lines and cross hatches. Read more
You know someone is serious about beer if they have one of these Kebo one-handed bottle openers. I would lose this thing in a second, even with its nice carrying case.

Breakbeat duo, Evil Nine’s new album, They Live!, is one of the standout releases of the year. They Live! is powerful second album after 2005′s, You Can Be Special Too, its gruesome lyrics paying homage to all those misunderstood zombies out there. The duo — Automatom and Pardytron — compiled a Secret Playlist for us, writing about their eight favourite songs right now. Their first selection? Why, Toto’s Africa, of course [listen below]: ‘The epitome of smooth music, words can’t express how much this song rules! When the synths come in and the drums echo in the night, I’[m immediately transported back to my youth. Some people might say this is a guilty pleasure, but I don’t feel no guilt. I just stick it on and bask in their mellow might’. Read the rest of the Evil Nine Secret Playlist.

I’ve just come across the music of Minneapolis band Cloud Cult, and their song Chemicals Collide in particular. Their sound is a mix of scratchy acoustic guitar riffs mixed in with staccato beats and airy harmonies, all infused with a beautiful sense of lyrical melancholy. Read more
