Studio Barnhus is a Stockholm-based label of hometown friends, Petter Nordkvist, Kornél Kovács and Axel Boman. More than knowing how to play records, they apparently know how to release dope music. Founded last year, and with only two releases out so far, Sanna La Fleur feel no stress to keep up release time. The graphics are as good as the music quality. Knowing that the first release was picked up by whatpeopleplay and got remixed by Spencer Parker, you know the this vinyl shine.
Band of Brothers make clothes and other stuff like that. But what I’m most impressed by is how they keep a playfulness to their creations throughout the entire collection. In their field, it’s so easy to fall back on archetypes and create something completely generic. That never happens with these guys.
I met this photographer while sleeping on a inflatable maddress. He walked in wearing a bear costume, taking pictures, and then disappearing. I thought it was a dream but we found him later on again. He travels the world discovering places wearing a bear suit, a bit like the Gnome trophy pics in Amelie De la Montmartre. Apparently a book will be released in July called The Adventures of Charles the Bear.
Our buddies out of LA produce fantastic and boundary breaking music like its nobodies’ business. Crazy, percussive soundscapes, experimental bass, R’n’B re-vamped and sweet soul music from the year 2525, they got it all. Right now, they’re releasing a new EP on Kingdom’s new label, Fade to Mind.
