Try to click the picture of an axe man reflected in a woman’s sunglasses on the first page of my website and the picture breaks up and parts revealing the legend: I am a One Man Subculture. The website, which I designed to complement my work, takes you on a labyrinthine tour of my photography. You have to navigate your way past and through surprising interactive javascript animations that are artworks in their own right for the pictures to be revealed. Read more

This Tumblr site shows the aftermath of fatalities, from a woman seemingly sleeping in the folds of a car roof after throwing herself off the the top of the Empire State Building, to the slumped body of gangster Bugsy Seagal shot through the eye, to the bloody back seat of the limousine JFK took his last ride in. Because they are nearly all black and white and far away in time, they are not as gory as you might first think. Read more

An epic video for an epic track. Kanye West lays down the beats and the remarkable Marco Brambilla turns asymmetry into symmetry. The video is as populated as the Sistine Chapel ceiling, so much so that you can not take it in all in in one viewing or even two, but you need to see it several times. The tragedy is it is so short. Easily one of the best music videos of all time.

This was the first site dedicated to the one of the masters of fashion photography, Guy Bourdin, who worked French Vogue for almost 30 years. Before it, there was literally only three of his pictures on the internet and it looked as if he had been totally forgotten. Now it seems he is more famous than when he was alive. My favourite photos have always been the shoe campaigns he shot over many years for Charles Jourdan. Read more

This is exactly as described: a wonderful ambiguity. In cityscapes with oblique lighting and long shadows, almost lit like a film noire set, strangers are caught going about their business but in such a mysterious way that the pictures throw up curious narratives. They are nearly all black and white, and some are by the masters of reportage. But there are also many great photographs by people you would never have heard of. Read more

At first sight I thought these trees were a Photoshop confection, but nature is often more ingenious than the human imagination. What looks like dirty candy floss is actually spider webs, where they climbed trees to escape the recent Pakistan floods. Read more

Interior design website, Apartment Therapy, just posted some amazing pictures of ’70s rock stars in their parents’ homes. My favorite is of David Crosby and his dad [below]. The two look so completely opposite of each other that it’s hard to believe that it’s Crosby’s real dad. They also look like they’re barely concealing the contempt they have for each other. Crosby’s father was an Academy-Award-winning cinematographer who shot Tabu and High Noon, amongst other well-known films. Read more
My roommate Adam and I have been playing Mark McGuire’s album, Pocket Full of Rain, all summer and some other tapes our other roommate has showed us that he did. I really like everything this guy has done. I sit and watch him play guitar on YouTube when I’m bored.

To be honest, I can’t bring myself to care about the new TSA scanners in airports. It’s not like they can’t already see and know everything about you already. However, I love these garments with the 4th Amendment printed on them in metallic ink so that the text show up clearly on scanners.
