Zanerobe

The finest tasting meals involve quality ingredients, thoughtfully but simply prepared, and Australian fashion label Zanerobe is proving the previously unthinkable – that this same theory can also apply to men’s casual clothing. Beginning with soft but durable fabrics, their streetwear has a sporty feel and is made to last much longer than the current season.

Several celebrities and sportspeople including Ben Cousins, Benji Marshall and Prince Harry already kit themselves out in Zanerobe’s comfortable clothing, and it’s featured in fashion spreads in magazines including Cleo, FHM and Zoo. Slogans on t-shirts can often go very wrong, but by keeping it simple and sparse, Zanerobe tees are among their most popular and sharpest looking items. Other cool labels for t-shirts and comfortable clothes are: Gfunk&Batz, Das Monk and Material Boy.

The ‘Fashion Faux Pas‘ collection from Brisbane-based Now You Own Us ‘is a collaboration of vibrant colours and impossible prints, bringing this collection into the ever so fashionable unfashionable’. This is one for the guys. One of our favourite men’s streetwear labels, Zanerobe, has just released its Fantasy League collection which is inspired by Australia’s fanatacism with sport. Well, it’s true! Designer Jonathan Yeo describes the range as ‘fun and funky’, and he’s on the ball when he say that. On the ball! Gettit. Shucks. We’ve got a little collection of eight Zanerobe goodies to give away to random Lost At E Minor subscribers who send any post on the Lost At E Minor site to one of their friends before August 25 2006 (Read more details and see the giveaway gear here). They include the Search & Rescue navy tee, the Track & Field blue hoodie and the Midtown v-neck white tee. Very cool indeed. [more about Zanerobe]

Philippine born, Chicago resident, Miriam Fanger is addicted to coffee, and capturing moments that don’t exist with the reality of passing time. The subtle intensity she has, along with a tenacity for shooting, makes her work powerful and moving. Her photos seem to catch all people at a passing instant of vulnerability, and the posture and eyes of her subjects radiate with a chemistry that I rarely see in portraiture. Read more

UK-based one-man-band Sieben has a new album out: As They Should Sound. Frontman Matt Howden builds songs with a loop pedal and a violin, which he uses for rhythm and melody. His sound is wonderfully sophisticated and cabalistic, with a particularly British sense of lyricism.
