Thistle: awesome music video by Hundred Waters

Callum Twigger Reader Find

By Callum Twigger in New Music on Friday 21 September 2012

The Pinata’s doom is a cruel metaphor for determinism. It’s pretty much a Christ-figure for the cruelty of children; a sacrifice consecrated to violence and gluttony by millions of nine-year-olds at birthdays across the planet. Florida four-piece Hundred Waters’s video for the single Thistle celebrates the liberation of the beast and its subsequent existential meandering. [...]

Vinyl record plays stop motion animation as it plays music

Zolton Contributor

By Zolton in New Design on Friday 27 April 2012

Now this is incredible! Designer Michael Hansen has developed this remarkable double-sided vinyl record with beautiful, intricate designs on it that act like a stop-motion animation as the vinyl spins on the player. As our friends at Design Boom have noted: ‘Both the album cover and the surface of the vinyl are designed specifically for the song recorded on that side. The images on the record itself (a 33 1/3 RPM) create moving animations when played on a turntable and lit with a strobelight at 50 to 60 Hz’. Best thing we’ve seen all year.
