Australian politicians have understandably been criticised over the last few months of public ‘debate’, but even their harshest opponents might agree this was a touching moment.
After enduring another lengthy day of back and forth, seemingly with just crocodile enthusiast Bob Katter as entertainment, Parliament was eventually able to do right by the Australian people and pass the bill that would allow for marriage equality.
And what they did next summed up the moment perfectly.

The entire House of Representatives sang the classic Aussie banger, ‘We are Australian’, having finally made possible what many had once believed may never occur.
