This rescued cat and dog are hiking BFFs, and their photos are amazing

Here’s a feel good story that proves how love looks beyond race, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, or even species.

In 2014, Colorado-based Cynthia Bennett and her boyfriend went to an adoption event to find a puppy. Initially, they thought of taking home a golden retriever mix. But then she spotted a giant pup named Henry.

“We looked around and Henry was just sitting there,” Bennett told The Dodo. “They said he was only three and a half months, but he was like five times bigger than the other three and a half-month old puppies.”

Henry and Baloo are both rescues. Baloo was born in Evergreen and Henry in the streets of New Mexico. Adopting is something that has become very important to us. So, we wanted to help raise awareness about adopting senior and adult dogs. • • November is Adopt a Senior Month, so @stellaandchewys decided to give back! Use #SeniorPetLove and tag @stellaandchewys in a post and @stellaandchewys will donate $1 worth of their food to shelters and rescues focused on senior pets through their partner @greymuzzleorg ! All you guys have to do is post to help feed some pups in need! #stellaandchewys #sponsored

When she entered Henry’s pen, it was love at first sight – or love at first meeting, rather. The dog made a beeline for Bennett and lovingly curled up in her lap.

“And from then, I decided that he was coming home with us,” said Bennett.

It gets better. As it turns out, the couple didn’t just adopt a pet, they adopted a hiking buddy. The two, who are avid hikers, took Henry on one of their trips and found that he’s a natural in the great outdoors.

“He found the steepest, tallest rock around, and he ran up to the top of it to look over the edge,” said Bennett. “We call him our little mountain goat.”

Because it's #NationalCampingWithDogsDay (Henry's favorite holiday, even over Xmas) we went camping last night + snuggled a whole bunch while we searched for constellations in the clear night sky 🌌⛺️😴Baloo is also now in love with Henry's sleeping bag + is already addicted to camping 🙌🏼

A few months ago, Bennett and her boyfriend decided to adopt again. But this time, they wanted a cat.

The couple looked for a rescue kitten for five months until they finally found the right one for them: a Siamese kitten mix named Baloo.

Henry, you can lay in the snow while I stay up here on your head 👌🏼 – Baloo

Right off the bat, their newest family member warmed up to them – especially to Henry. He just couldn’t stop playing and snuggling with the canine. In fact, he even comes on their hikes!

“I get a lot of questions about how we got him used to it,” Bennett said. “But he really loves it. He really wants to go outside.”

“He’s definitely not the kind of cat we can leave home alone on the weekend anymore,” she added. “I think he thinks he’s more a dog than anything.”

Mornings with my favorite crew, life sure is good 😊🤙🏼

Of course, big brother Henry is always there to keep an eye on Baloo and make him feel right at home.

“He couldn’t be fitting into our little family any better and we just love him to the moon and back.”

We know that it's after Halloween, but we still wanted to dress up as Dinos for a day 🐊

Everyone meet Baloo 👋🏼 We adopted this cutie pie on Monday and he already has us wrapped around his little paw! He LOVES the outdoors + will cry if we don't take him on our walks with Henry ❤️ This morning we took Baloo on his very first mountain adventure + he hiked, met a bunch of people, and met at least 10 pups! Henry has become the best big brother and always checks on him to make sure he is doing okay. He couldn't be fitting into our little family any better and we just love him to the moon and back 🌕

Hi 👋🏼I'm Cynthia ( @ourwildspirits ), Henry + Baloo's mom! I want to introduce myself with some fun facts. But first THANK YOU all for following our adventures! It means so much to us that so many people care about our little family that we are lucky enough to have ❤️ You all make this life possible for us + we are so grateful! • 1. I was THAT horse girl in school 2. I grew up in New Hampshire + Massachusetts 3. Birks + socks are my go-to (try not to judge 😂) 4. One day I plan to have a farm with horses, cows, alpacas, pigs, goats (all pets of course) 5. I have asthma and Henry is always there encouraging me to live the life I want to live because life's too short not to. 🤙🏼
