This steamy calendar of NYC cab drivers will make you want to take taxis again

We’ve found the perfect Christmas present, but the only tree this one’s sitting under is that little air freshener dangling from the rear-view.

If you’ve ever wondered why we don’t ride shotgun more often when taking taxis, we’re giving you not one, but twelve reasons to start reconsidering.

We’re talking about none other than the traffic-stopping, turban-propping, jaw-dropping cab drivers of The Big Apple, as they star in the newest edition of the NYC Taxi Calendar.

Now, we’ve written about some crazy calendars in the past, but this one’s near and dear to our hearts.

Their official website describes the project as “a comedic take on the traditional pin-up” featuring “some of the city’s best-humored yellow cab drivers. These drivers put a face to one of the most dedicated workforces, driving day and night to transport New Yorkers and our guests alike.”

This guys as excited as I am for May! 😊 #nyc #nyctaxicalendar #taxi

More than just a laugh, part of the calendar’s earnings are poured into University Settlement, America’s oldest settlement house (1886) that’s said to serve “over 30,000 immigrant and working individuals and families every year with basic services like quality education, housing, recreation and wellness opportunities, and literacy programs.”

Behind the project is the married pair of Shannon and Philip Kirkman, with the former being the photographer, and the latter the creative director. They came out with the first release in 2014.

“Shannon and I go into each shoot with predetermined scene ideas so we determine everything from props to outfits to locations to faces and poses,” Kirkman told Pickle.

“As the shoot progresses and the driver settles into the shoot, it becomes more collaborative and they may try their own face and pose ideas. It’s a very unique experience as we have about two hours to create a model out of someone that has never posed before.”

And if you think you’re just getting eye candy, you’re in for a surprise. Included in the spread are small bits of trivia on the drivers. Check out Mike’s interests below:

The calendar goes for about US$15 (AUS$20), with this year’s edition featuring racy new photos.

And, boy, it doesn’t hold back. Here’s to hoping they call this guy in again:

May used to be my favorite month. Thanks a lot #nyctaxicalendar and @doubled314 @kimd115
