All aboard the Trump train. He’s the gift that just keeps on giving.
If there’s been one hot topic for drinking sessions over the past year, it’s been the rise to power of now 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. So what better way to keep that ball rolling than to have alcohol companies throw their hats in the ring?
Vodka producer Smirnoff decided to take a shot at 45 with a recent ad making a not-so-subtle reference to a statement made by the Commander-in-chief.
Take a look:
The line is a nod to a Trump speech wherein he said he’d be prepared to testify under oath and talk to Robert Mueller, special counsel in the FBI’s investigation into Russian election meddling.
Unfortunately, no amount of left-wing brownie points will make Smirnoff taste any better.
This certainly isn’t the first time an alcoholic beverage aspired to socio-political relevance. Ever catch this Heineken campaign? Cute, but it’s still. Bad. Beer.
Now, imagine if these companies actually spent more time improving their recipes. That’s something we can all drink to.
