Everyone nowadays seems to be making fun of President Donald Trump (we can’t blame them). And, as it turns out, that long list now includes Smirnoff Vodka.
The vodka brand is lowkey trolling the Trump administration with a new ad campaign touting both its Russian roots and its American manufacturing heritage. The poster, seen in a bus stop, features the product along with the caption:
“Made in America, but we’d be happy to talk about our ties to Russia under oath.”
That’s a good burn there, Smirnoff. pic.twitter.com/6fJ4Wfl7Xe

It’s a clever reference to allegations of collusion between Trump’s campaign and associates and Russian officials during the 2016 election.
Smirnoff, which is owned by British drinks giant Diageo, was founded in Moscow in 1864 and has been made in America since 1934. A company spokesperson explained the reason for their bold advert.
“The recent interest in American-made products created the perfect opportunity to reinforce that fact and the brand’s roots in Russia – with a wink and nod to current affairs.”
