Heads up, toy collectors! You wouldn’t want to miss out on this one.
Brooklyn, New York-based Candylab Toys is basically a team of adults playing with toy cars. But these guys make the toy cars themselves, and they do with a lot of style.
Quoting from their bio, the project was born out of “desire to revive the glamorous ’60s American modernist vibe and carve it into awesome contemporary wood toy designs.” The result was a resounding success at first go, and they’re at it again with a new set of four-wheeled beauties.
This one’s called The Drifter, and it’s crafted based on the “exhilarating, dangerous, and intoxicating” spirit of off-roading. A truly wonderful piece from the creative minds of Candylab. It’s so popular right now that it’s exceeded its initial run of 100 units, twice, and now going on its third design!
“The Drifter is made from real, solid Beech wood, with steel pin axles, ABS plastic wheels and safe silicone tires for that bouncy effect. We finish it all with water based paints and a clear coat. They are all hand cut, hand painted and painstakingly assembled right here in the USA.”
