This giant swing-couch hybrid is the yard piece you’ve always wanted

Sorry, Dad. That treehouse is so 1995. Is it a swing? Is it a couch? It’s a Kodama Zome, silly! What exactly is a Kodama Zome?

It’s the newest star of the luxury outdoor furniture market—a cage-like geometric structure that you can choose to either hook up to a strong tree branch, or place within a custom tripod.

Within the sturdy and spacious frame are fitted cushion and pillows, so you’re basically buying a new couch too. And the best part? There’s zero sacrifice in comfort unlike a hammock! It won’t move as much and there’s plenty of room for the whole family (can carry up to over 250 kg).

The Kodama Zome comes in different colours and has add-ons available such as a sun/rain cover, mosquito net, and carabiners, among others.

The price tag? Upwards of AUS$7,000 (US$5,000) — a modest upgrade from the old tire swing in your backyard.

But look at this way, your fantasy of having a hanging couch can finally come true. Just think of the possibilities: from a quiet night alone with a good book, to sharing a bottle of vintage with that special someone, to an afternoon of grilling and throwing a ball around with your best pals. The Kodama Zome is no doubt the holy grail of backyard pieces.

As of writing, the Kodama Zomes website is still under construction, but should be available very soon. For now, you can visit their Facebook page via the link below to learn more about their products.
