Man cycles home only to find out he was 500km going the wrong way

Riding a bike halfway across China is a pretty amazing feat, even if you went in the entirely wrong direction.

In anticipation of the Chinese New Year, a man decided to spend a month cycling home instead of taking the train due to limited funds.

He left the city of Rizhou and headed north towards his hometown of Qiqihar, traveling some 500km (310 miles) before he realised one thing: he actually went south.

The man's bike path

The man was in the city of Anhui when he got stopped by traffic police for illegally riding along the highway. When he told them where he was headed, the officers told him his destination was some 2,500km (1,553 miles) away.

Fortunately, some kind-hearted officers and toll booth workers all pitched in to buy the guy a ticket home.

Man, and we thought we’re bad with directions!
