The Gorillaz haunting, gothic new film clip is a chilling warning about Trump

It’s been six long years, but the Gorillaz are back – and their timing is impeccable.

At the Golden Globes, Merryl Streep said “take your pain, and turn it into art” – and that’s exactly what Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have done with ‘Hallelujah Money’.

The brooding track featuring Mercury Prize-winning artist Benjamin Clementine is perhaps the most politically charged single of their storied career.

But it’s still undeniably Gorillaz in style – eclectic, genre-bending with a healthy dose of spoken-word.

The new single explores the corrupting influence of money and how America’s slavish devotion to it will eventually be its undoing.

“Don’t worry my friend / If this be the end, then so shall it be.”

No one said it was going to be uplifting.

A lot of people might be pretty upset about Donald Trump being sworn in as President tomorrow – but there’s good news: the Gorillaz are back.
