A new magazine talks about the diversity of Australia

The Pin is a new online magazine in Australia run by two friends of mine, Nkechi Anele and Lucille Cutting. They are both Australian, born of Nigerian and Irish background, and together they explore the incredible stories of biracial and bicultural people of Australia.

Australia is quite an odd place. After the indigenous Australians peacefully lived here for something like 40,000 years, colonial Britain invaded a couple of hundred years ago, and since then, it has seen waves of migration from all over the world, making it a very multicultural and diverse place.

This influx of people has led to some disharmony between some parts of Australia, and The Pin challenges this and celebrates some of the amazing stories and connections that are also being made. They don’t skirt the issues around race and culture and that should be commended and I have learned a lot from them.
