Great-granny spends years unknowingly praying to ‘Lord of the Rings’ toy

As it turns out, Elrond isn’t only a powerful warrior and a noble ruler, he’s also a saint. At least, that’s according to one great-grandma in Florianopolis, Brazil.

Last week, freelance makeup artist Gabriela Brandao found her daughter’s great-grandma’s religious figurine of Saint Anthony. The senior had been praying to the figure every day for years, but Brandao couldn’t help but notice something was off.

The item wasn’t Saint Anthony. Rather, Elrond from The Lord of the Rings! A quick search on eBay proved her theory correct!

The Elrond action figure

Brandao posted photos of the Elrond toy on Facebook, and the images have since gone viral. More importantly, they cleared everything up with the old lady.

“We tried to explain right away but she didn’t understand at first,” Brandão told BuzzFeed. “The next day we explained again and she understood and we got her a new figure of Saint Anthony.”

Elrond and Saint Anthony

To be fair, Saint Anthony does kinda look like Elrond – minus the pointy ears and long, flowy hair.
