Donald Trump will be sworn in as US president just next week, but for now, he’s making headlines for the wrong reasons. Senator John McCain has allegedly handed the FBI documents which indicate a secret contact between the Trump campaign and Russia
The material is reportedly a series of reports which detail Trump’s liaisons with Moscow. Trump has consistently denied maintaining a secret relationship with Russia despite numerous allegations.
His team denied comment on this situation, however the president posted a tweet from his official twitter account which appeared to relate directly to these reports.
Supposedly, one report, dated June 2016, claims that Russia has been working with Trump for at least five years. Allegedly with an agenda which seeked to encourage “splits and divisions in western alliance.”
Additionally, according to CNN, Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about the president-elect.
Donald Trump is still president, well actually, not yet, but he’s already in international trouble.
These latest allegations were apparently made in a two-page synopsis of a report into Russian interference in the US election.
The memos included in the report allegedly come from a former British agent, which US sources have deemed credible.
The FBI is investigating these claims, which are originally from Russian sources, in order to assess their accuracy – but have yet to confirm many details.
Donald Trump has been made aware of the claims circulating about him, which are supposedly known among intelligence agencies, senior members of Congress and other government officials in Washington.
In a bizarre twist, Buzzfeed published a separate cache of *very, very unverified* documents today alleging that Trump paid for golden showers in Russia.
It’s beginning to look like that was actually just a piece of political fanfiction writing and not legitimate at all – obviously.
So…there’s also that, I guess.
Enough about Donald for now, though.
The report which these allegations were appended to, reportedly features information which insinuated that Russia had compiled information about both Trump and his unsuccessful opponent Hillary Clinton, however, opted only to release details which harmed only the latter.
Well, there you have it, Donald Trump already in international hot water before he even takes up residency in the White House.
It’s going to be an interesting four years.
