Vivid Sydney is about more than just amazing light shows and great music acts – it’s a chance for creative people to learn from others who have been there, done that, and made the epic fails.
Australia’s first Failure:Lab is taking place at the Giant Dwarf Theatre on May 28, with six of the country’s brightest creative minds set to share the story of their journey based on the theme ‘The Highs & Lows of the Creative Journey’.
But far from focusing on failure, this is a night about learning to pick yourself back up; embracing your failures and learning from them, because “In order to have honest conversations about success we need to have honest conversations about failure.”
In between chats from the likes of Marcus Westbury, Dr Annetta Mallon, Adam Monaghan and Selina Miles, Failure:Lab has a period of silence for the audience to reflect on what they’ve learnt, which is followed by a performance from an entertainer – Sydney will see performances from Casio Gloria, DA Carter, The Tinderbox Lullabies and four other acts – before the next speaker comes out to share their story.
