In Hamilton, New Zealand, there’s a cat burglar on the loose, and she’s nabbing all the men’s underwear she can get her filthy paws on.
A six-year-old Tonkinese cat named Brigit has been stealing men’s briefs, and hiding the loot inside her human’s house. Her owner, Sarah Nathan, discovered the stash while packing for a move. All in all, the four-legged thief had stolen 11 pairs of underwear and 50 socks.
“It’s an absolute obsession,” Nathan told the New Zealand Herald. “A night does not go by without her bringing things home. I got up this morning and there were another four socks in the house.”
She added that her pet has developed a thing for menswear.
Since the discovery, Nathan has put up flyers apologising for her cat’s mischievous behaviour and promising to return the clothes. No one has yet to come forward for their missing stuff.
But while there may be no cure for Brigit’s obsession with underpants, there is good news for their neighbours: the family is moving to the country, where there will be fewer clotheslines to steal from.
“Hopefully there’s something there she can find to catch but if not we may have to stash some undies around the farm to keep her stimulated,” Nathan told Stuff.
