Artist binges on 20 different drugs to produce 20 different artworks

Graphic designer Brian Pollett (aka Pixel-Pusha) took his work to the extreme recently by taking 20 different drugs in as many days, and then created art to illustrate the effects.

While on his binge (which we don’t recommend!), the San Francisco-based tripper tried cocaine, MDMA, ketamine, THC, and other drugs I can’t even pronounce.

In an interview with A Plus, Pollett said: ‘I’ve done years of research, I understand the effects both emotionally and chemically. I used drug testing kits to ensure I was taking the correct substance, and I was always in the comfort of my studio while listening to my favorite music’.

As for the one drug that made him the most creative — it was MXE.

‘Imagine the past, future, and linear time are gone. You can just focus on your existence in the present. The idea of tomorrow is laughable. I can create art without concern of outsider judgment, without over analyzing my process, and intuitively enjoy creating the most honest work’.

Terrifying experiment, but at least it created some decent art.
