David Bowie was not just a rock god but a prolific artist, too

You watched him on stage. You were captivated with his performances on film. And now, his legacy will live on not only in his music, but his art.

Yes, David Bowie was a fantastic artist and Very Private Gallery recently published a collection of his work that is striking and symbolic.

The Very Private Gallery team believe Bowie showed a ‘knowledgeable approach to art’, with work influenced by Frank Auerbach, David Boomberg, Francis Bacon, and Francisc Picabia.

The work includes self-portraits, commentaries on his visit to South Africa and colourful sketches.

Take a look at his talent below and read Bowie’s 1998 interview with The New York Times on art — very insightful.
