Pugemon: If all the original 150 Pokemon were pugs

In his series ‘Pugemon’, Brisbane-based illustrator Sean Dowling shows us that Pokemon can be made even cuter by combining them with pugs.

Dowling began the series with Bulbasaur because its wide smile reminded him of pugs. He then moved on to other characters, each serving as warm-up drawings to help his creative juices flow in the morning. Now he’s completing the Pugemon Pokedex (or Pugedex, as he likes to call it).

So far Dowling has completed 110 out of the original 150 Pokemon, with characters given names such as ‘Pugachu’ for Pikachu, ‘Squirtpug’ as Squirtle, and ‘Pugizard’ as Charizard.

Pugemon is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. As of writing, it has raised over $AU1080 out of its $AU8000 funding goal, with 21 days to go. You can find out more about the project here.
