In China, there’s a job opening that’s bound to receive applications from basically everyone on Earth. It involves getting paid $32,000 a year to do just one thing: hug baby pandas all day long.
The caretaker position is being offered at the Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Ya’an, Sichuan province, as part of a campaign to raise awareness for panda protection work.
You have to be at least 22 years old, have basic panda knowledge, and have good writing and photography skills. On top of the salary, benefits include the use of a company car, free meals, and accommodation.
According to the organisers, this is China’s version of Australia’s ‘The Best Job in the World’, which involved someone becoming the caretaker of an island on the Great Barrier Reef.
‘Your work has only one mission: spending 365 days with the pandas and sharing in their joys and sorrows’, they said.
You can apply for the job here.
